Definition/Description
YSH are the regional provider of sexual health and HIV treatment Services. We offer a wide range of services encompassing contraception, STI screening and treatment, HIV support, counselling and MESMAC.

Referral Criteria/Information
STI Screening
Postal kits can be accessed directly by patients via the YSH website including:
- Online access for chlamydia kits for under 25s.
- Online self-test STI postal kits for all ages (includes chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV).

A mixture of virtual consultation and appointment booked clinics are available for sexual health screening and contraception. Patient Information leaflets are available on the website.

Complex contraception referrals:
Referral letter to accompany any complex contraception patients.
Difficult /failed IUC referrals
Information to include in referral letter:
- Reason for referral
- Type of IUD/IUS
- Duration of use
- Threads visible or not
- If threads not seen whether had USS to confirm in-utero IUC?
- Bridging contraception if IUC expired
- 7/7 abstinence if IUC in date
- Relevant medical/surgical/gynecological history
- Cervical smear history
Deep implant referrals
Information to include in the referral letter
- Where inserted?
- In date or expired?
- Any part of the implant palpable or not?
- If completely impalpable, any attempts previously to localize the implant?
- Previous failed attempts at removal and any resulting complications?
- Bridging contraception if implant expired
If there has been a failed attempt at removal, please allow at least 6 weeks before another attempt
to allow time for all tissue reaction to settle down.
Exclusions:
YSH will not fit 52 mg LNG-IUS insertions for non-contraceptive indications.
