Coeliac disease
Definition/Description
Gluten free foods are now readily available in supermarkets and a wider range of naturally gluten free food types are available, meaning that the ability of patients to obtain these foods without a prescription has greatly increased. Revised prescribing regulations allow for gluten free bread and mixes only to be prescribed at NHS expense.
National guidance was issued in December 2018 which detailed certain breads and mixes are now only available on the NHS, further national information can be viewed here.
