CYP Emotional Health

Definition/Description

This page provides information on services availble for children and young people requiring support for emotional health issues that do not require a CAMHS referral.

Children and young people’s emotional health issues can be managed by a range of universal services. The emotional wellbeing of children and young people is everybody’s business but it’s not always easy to know where to turn to for support. Emotional health issues include mild to moderate anxiety, mild to moderate depression, behavioural problems that are not normal to the child's development stage, emotional distress linked with life events such as bullying, body image, bereavement, parental seperation, exam stress or moving school.

The school or college that the young people attends may also have additional support available and it is worth checking as the support available varies.

There are also a range of national organisations able to offer support to children, young people and families.
