CDC Phlebotomy (Hull & ERY)
Definition/Description
The Phlebotomy service at the Hull and East Riding Community Diagnostic Centre run by Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust aims are:
- To provide a rapid access phlebotomy service for routine and urgent blood samples for patients aged 16 and above
- To work collaboratively with Primary Care to ensure ease of access
- To ensure patients across Hull and the East Riding are not waiting an unnecessary amount of time for blood tests
- Clinic operating times 0830-1600 Monday to Friday
The service will take blood from all patients who have a valid request on ICE. Patients should not ring to book an appointment until the request is confirmed as placed by the requesting clinician.

Referral Criteria/Information
Do Not Refer
Anyone under the age of 16 years
Anyone who needs bloods via a line or port (the service is for peripheral bloods only)
Referral Criteria
GP/Healthcare professional to complete an ICE request as 'Sample later' ensuring the requesting GP's details are included in the request.
Once the ICE request is completed the practice should text (or provide) the patient with the CDC's telephone number to book their appointment:

Where a patient requires support to book their appointment (and post the ICE request being completed), practice reception teams are able to call the CDC to book the appointment on the patient's behalf if required. A text notification will be sent to the patient, informing them of their appointment date/time.
Appointments will be offered at the earliest available date/time or at the request of the patient.
All results will go back to the requesting GP electronically as per existing process.
