Adult eating disorders
Definition/Description
Evolve-Hull Eating Disorder Service provides aeeseement and treatment for adults with a suspected eating disorder.
Mailnly treating: Anorexiia Nervosa; Binge eating Disorder and other specified feeding and eating disorders (OSFED).
Evolve offer evidence based NICE concordant psychological interventions for eating disorders in addition the service offers dietetic treatment and occupational therapy to support recovery process.
Self-referrals via telephone or website are encouraged however, other health professionals can also refer with patients consent
Guidelines on Management
Referral Criteria/Information
The service is available to;

Individuals registered with a Hull GP;
-
Individuals presenting with signs and symptoms of an eating disorder (see website https://www.chcpcic.org.uk/chcp-services/evolve/pages/a-guide-to-eating-disorders-introduction)
- Individuals aged 18 year and over; however the principles regarding Transition apply in conjunction with the CAMHs service.

The care pathway comprises of:

A comprehensive assessment of physical, mental and psychological health, educational, social and motivational factors and a full risk assessment;

GPs will be informed of the outcome of the initial assessment and treatment process

The service will maintain responsibility for the physical monitoring of the individual whilst they are in the Community Eating Disorder Service.

The service will work collaboratively with Mental Health Services as appropriate where there is complex mental health issues present.

Other Information
Referrals deemed appropriate at initial assessment will be prioritised on the basis of clinical risk. This will include the severity of the eating disorder, psychiatric risk and the presence of other physical health concerns such as diabetes and pregnancy.
Access to treatment:

Non-urgent referrals (defined as Mild/Moderate severity) - individuals will be comprehensively assessed within 4 weeks of receipt of referral. Following comprehensive assessment, treatment intervention appointments will commence within 2 weeks of assessment;

Urgent referrals (defined as Severe severity) - individuals will be comprehensively assessed and treatment interventions will commence within 14 working days;

Emergency referrals (defined as Extreme severity) - initial assessment will be undertaken and treatment commenced within 48 hours upon receipt of the referral
Any Other Information
Following receipt of the referral and the patient being accepted into the service then a comprehensive assessment following NICE guidelines – will be undertaken which will include physical risk assessment; Kings College Guidance:
If high level medical risk is identified at initial assessment or in the process of monitoring, management would be initiated by Evolve under the Hull Marsipan protocol
Upon referral,patients are offered a choice of appointments which iclude face to face (home, service locations, other CHCP locations), telephone and virtual.
