Confirmed urinary infection, sterile pyuria, haematuria, or high index of suspicion of underlying bladder pathology

Commissioning position

This is commissioned if there is also:

  • recurrent confirmed urinary infection OR
  • Sterile pyuria OR
  • Haematuria OR
  • Other high index of suspicion of underlying bladder pathology

Summary of rationale

There is no evidence to suggest any benefit, in terms of outcome, related to performing cystoscopy in men with uncomplicated LUTS (i.e. LUTS with no clinical evidence of underlying bladder pathology).
