Suspected pancreatic cancer
Red Flag Symptoms
- Jaundice with acute symptoms (e.g. Bilirubin >100, pain, sepsis, or patient needing same day assessment due to other acute symptoms)
- Jaundice without pain and with concern for pancreatic cancer
- Incidental finding on imagine suggests pancreatic cancer
- Over 60 with weight loss AND any of the following symptoms:
- Abdominal pain
- Back pain
- New on-set diabetes
- Nausea
- Vomiting

Referral Criteria/Information
Contact Acute Referrals Team
- If has jaundice with acute symptoms (e.g. Bilirubin >100, pain, sepsis, or patient needing same day assessment due to other acute symptoms)
Refer to Suspected Pancreatic Cancer pathway
- Jaundice without pain and with concern for pancreatic cancer
- Request FBC, LFT, U&E, clotting screen & CRP at the same time
- Incidental finding on imagine suggests pancreatic cancer
- Over 60 with weight loss AND any of the following symptoms: abdominal pain, back pain, new on-set diabetes, nausea, and/or vomiting
- Provide up to date FBC, U&E, LFT, bone profile, HbA1c, TFT, Ca125/PSA
- Request FIT and CXE at point of referral
Referrals will be triaged by RDS Nursing Team (either will be sent straight to test CT or sent for review in nurse led RDS clinic)
